NOAA Department of Education Strategic Plan

THE REQUEST

The NOAA Department of Education needed a digital and print version of their 2021–2040 strategic plan. This digital version needed to be Section 508-compliant, making it accessible to all readers, whether sighted or not. 

THE RESULT

Accessible graphic design ensures that a final product uses or works with assistive technology, such as screen readers, so that anyone with disabilities may understand the content. I partnered with Colleen Gratzer to ensure this high-contrast, legible document was ready for everyone. The following standards were met:

• Graphics, photos, and icons are described with words
• Content is tagged appropriately and in a heirarchy to convey clear meaning and easy navigation
• Visual organization elements, such as tables, are structured to navigate through with assistive technology 
  

As with other projects, I designed, directed, and managed the entire process, ensuring a beautiful and functional product for the client and the American public.
